I was seriously injured while defending my hometown in Ukraine. When I was recovering in hospital, I thought about what I could do to earn money and support the frontline. I decided that I would repair cars for soldiers but, without the appropriate qualifications, everyone refused me. I went to the local VET school and found out that a qualification centre had opened, which could help me get my non-formal qualifications recognised.
Two weeks later, I successfully passed the exam and received a certificate, which is the basis for employment as a car mechanic. I opened my own car service station and now I focus all my efforts on repairing cars for the Armed Forces. Thanks to the qualification centre, I was quickly able to get my existing skills recognised and thus change my profession, become useful for my country again, and earn money.
