I studied to become a teacher and happily taught in schools for four years. I loved it, but I was curious to work in communications. Teaching provided me with many skills needed for this new field, so I was determined to use my existing skills to change careers. I applied for the Bluebook Traineeship at the European Commission and was lucky enough to be chosen. It changed my life! The traineeship, combined with my experience as a teacher, led me to my current job as a Communications Officer for the European Year of Skills and I couldn’t be happier. Don’t let not having a certificate for your skills stop you and don’t be scared to learn on the job. When you are passionate about something, all you need is someone to give you a chance.
