I worked unhappily as an electro radiology technician for 12 years before becoming a medical registrar, which did not satisfy me either. I wanted a change but I lacked the courage to do it. In the meantime, I had children and focused on family life. It wasn’t until I was made redundant that I decided I wanted to work in a profession that would bring me joy. I registered with the district employment office and learned about an EU project called ‘This can be You - comprehensive support programmes for the unemployed’. With the help of a course leader and the encouragement from my family and friends, I chose to train as a caregiver for nurseries and children’s clubs. I started working at a nursery and today I wonder why it took me so long. I love taking care of children and this work gives me incredible joy and energy.
