Joint HOTREC-EFFAT event: Education and training: the driving force of skilled hospitality workers in Europe

HOTREC AND EFFAT

In the ever-evolving landscape of the European hospitality sector, the need for workforce and skilled workers has never been more pressing. The COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing green and digital transitions have thrown new challenges and opportunities into the mix, making it crucial for the industry to continuously promote education and training opportunities. To highlight this urgency, social partners HOTREC and EFFAT are co-hosting an event under the umbrella of the European Year of Skills, on November 20, 2023, at the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels.

The event will shine a spotlight on the crucial role of re- and up-skilling. Vocational Education and Training (VET) and skills play a vital part in addressing labour market needs, enhancing workers' employability, and ensuring the sustainability of hospitality businesses. They pave the way for a more harmonious match between supply and demand in the hospitality job market.

A key objective of the event is to showcase positive examples of collaborative work between social partners at the national level which can serve as a source of inspiration and innovation to participants. These partnerships are vital for promoting education and training activities, skilling, and up-skilling. By sharing these successes, we hope to inspire others to follow suit and contribute to the evolution of the sector.

Join us on November 20, 2023, at the European Economic and Social Committee's Van Maerlant Building to help unlock the sector's untapped potential and ensure its prosperity in the European Year of Skills.
