The European Year of Skills offers a platform for addressing the challenges of an evolving labour market. J.O.B Verts actively supports this initiative by providing people with the skills they need to succeed in the emerging green economy.
This project specifically targets job seekers aged 18 to 29. Its primary goal is to offer comprehensive training in organic farming and landscape gardening, letting participants to learn or improve their skills. Also, the project aims to create an environment outside of school where young people can gather, share ideas, and explore new opportunities.
Empowering change in green skills through training
The programme provides participants with practical experience while they work alongside experienced trainers. They can choose to work in either an organic market garden or a private garden of La Bourrache, where they learn ecological gardening techniques. During this experience, participants learn how to plant and take care of vegetable and ornamental gardens throughout the seasons. Also, they receive training in plant and vegetable knowledge, biodiversity preservation, and the ecological principles supporting sustainable gardening practises. The programme also includes many workshops. These activities promote critical thinking and a sense of civic responsibility by encouraging participants to reflect on the world around them. By covering topics such as energy consumption, quality jobs, debt mediation, international solidarity, responsible consumption, knowledge sharing or environmental preservation, these workshops help them become informed and engaged citizens.
J.O.B Verts enable people to get green skills while fostering personal growth, through a comprehensive blend of practical and theoretical training and workshops. They develop the competence to contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future. As we celebrate the European Year of Skills, this program exemplifies the spirit of skill development, fostering ecological consciousness, and empowering individuals to create positive change within their communities and beyond.

The European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) continues its commitment to investing in people, especially considering the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and its socioeconomic consequences. The ESF+, with a budget of €99.3 billion, focuses on supporting the triple transition to a green, sustainable, and digital economy, while also working to achieve the goals of the European Pillar of Social Rights.
