As we face the challenges of a rapidly changing world, collaboration in developing skills for the green transition is essential.
The GREENOVET project set up by four Centers of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) promotes collaboration between industry and Vocational Education and Training (VET) to successfully empower students, teachers, and professionals to lead the way to a greener future.
What are the CoVEs?
GREENOVET is one of the 33 ongoing CoVE projects, funded by Erasmus+. By 2027, the EU-initiative will finance 100 CoVEs with a budget of 400-million-euro. The GREENOVET partnership has set up four CoVEs in Styria (Austria), Vaasa (Finland), Leiria (Portugal), and Skopje (North Macedonia). They bring together VET providers, industry stakeholders such as clusters, chambers of commerce, companies, governmental bodies, and non-governmental organisations for development support and education supervision. Their goal is to promote green skills innovation and knowledge exchange across Europe by analysing future skill needs, joint education offers, teacher training and green skills competitions.
GREENOVET supports innovative teaching methods
Another project goal is to strengthen innovative teaching methods and educational trends by hosting seminars on green innovation in upper secondary schools. Meet Maria and Anna - two teachers who have gained a deeper understanding of green innovation and how to implement it in classrooms and manage schools sustainably.
The mission is to empower skills and environmental awareness.
The project has also introduced other engaging initiatives to help students and companies to develop skills. Among them is the creation of Green Transformation Cards. A set of 100 measures, a DIY workshop guide, and a Green Transformation Canvas to help in developing a roadmap to climate neutrality.
Additionally, students can take part in GREENtivity, which is based on a popular game Activity, Recycling Games aimed at engaging and teaching young participants about proper waste management, or a Green Energy Competition, in which students from upper secondary schools and higher education institutions are tasked with developing energy communities and new ideas with the support of partners, communities, and companies.
What are the results?
GREENOVET has successfully set up regional partnerships and cooperation to develop green transition skills in Europe. Furthermore, the project has empowered students, teachers, and professionals to drive the green transition forward by fostering innovative teaching methods and promoting environmental awareness.
