After working for nearly 40 years as an executive housekeeper at a chain of five-star hotels, the place I was working closed for renovations. I decided the next step in my professional life was to share my experience, knowledge and skills with younger people in my field. Thanks to a fully-funded Train the Trainer programme from the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus, I got a Vocational Trainer certification and improved my digital skills. It gave me the confidence and tools I needed for a new start. I advise people who find themselves in a similar situation to look outwards as well as inwards, to look for opportunities around them, training courses and programmes. Be open to learning and see where you go.
