This flagship conference is one of Cedefop’s key contributions to the European Year of Skills. The conference will offer a platform to stimulate dialogue, to disseminate research and policy findings, and to reflect on how to better match VET, skills and qualifications with the evolving needs.

The Forum on Vocational Excellence 2023 took place on 25 and 26 September in Amsterdam. Over 500 vocational excellence professionals exchanged best practices, co-created solutions for common challenges and expanded their network to ensure that Europe’s workforce is equipped with the right skills.

The European Year of Skills puts the importance of having a skilled workforce to support the green and digital transitions in the spotlight. Having skilled and knowledgeable citizens is not just a matter of formal education (e.g. schools and universities).

Get involved and show Europe’s daily impact on the lives of all citizens! To celebrate the European Year of Skills, this year’s #ErasmusDays will also showcase activities linked to skills development. 

The European Cybersecurity Month is coordinated by the EU Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) and supported by the European Commission and the EU Member States will have events taking place across Europe throughout the month of October.

Las plazas de Europa took place on 20 September with a special edition dedicated to the European Year of Skills. Almost 140 high school students were able to experience firsthand the opportunities that the EU puts at their disposal so that they have the best possible training for their future work.

On 5 December 2022, the Trade and Technology Council announced the formation of the Talent for Growth Task Force. It is a high-level reflection group with leaders from government, business, trade unions, and organisations that support training from the United States and the European Union.

Europass, an EU platform that supports people in their learning and career management is broadening its offer during the European Year of Skills. Skills are at the heart of Europass tools and services, helping learners and workers to navigate the latest labour market and skills trends.  

On 26 and 27 September, the annual international forum "Skillman" for vocational education will take place at the Ogre Technical School in Latvia, where experts and practitioners from all over the world will share their experience and discuss the latest trends on skills.
