| I faced lots of difficulties at the end of my secondary education. Later, I discovered that, in Belgium, it’s possible to take government-funded courses as an adult so you can acquire new skills or change your career. Initially, I wanted to take a chemistry course but it was too fast paced for me. I’m autistic and even with the proposed accommodations, I couldn't manage it. I decided to pursue a course in technical forestry instead and got my diploma. Now I’m expanding my skills and knowledge by volunteering in horticulture and the preservation of natural environments. I’m hoping to find paid work and increase my independence soon. To learn, you have to be motivated so it’s best to choose a field that aligns with your interests. |
