Meeting of Directors-General for Vocational Education and Training (DGVT), 18-19 March 2024, Mechelen, Belgium

The meeting brought together high-level representatives from ministries in charge of vocational education and training (VET) from 32 countries, together with the European cross-sectoral social partners, the European Commission, Cedefop and the European Training Foundation.

They presented and discussed the digital transformation of the VET sector in the context of the national plans implementing the 2020 Council Recommendation on VET and the Osnabrück Declaration, the long-term impact of the EU’s digital transition, the international dimension of the digital transition, challenges in the Belgian VET system and on the impact of digitalization.  

Participants also discussed supporting teachers and trainers in integrating digital learning tools, connecting VET institutions with researchers on working with digital tools, enabling factors for digital learning from the perspective of learners and up- and reskilling through digital learning. The discussions took place in a mix of interaction in plenary, break-out sessions and world café settings.
